I think NBC's new holiday tradition might just need to be airing a live version of #TheWiz every December.
To those of you who think it's "political" or "politics" to stand against white supremacists, white nationalists, actual Nazis, and/or a former reality star president who refuses to acknowledge there's a difference between actual Nazis and counter-protesters: it is not. Politics are about policy and ideology, and we can have reasonable disagreements, and yes, I do not write about policy, for the most part. Trump's press conference today, in which he doubled-down on his absurd, fact-free arguments about the white supremacists' actions in Charlottesville, went far beyond "politics." That's why Republicans are among those speaking out against what he said. This is a matter of human decency, not of one side versus the other, and I will not be silent. We cannot be silent when people are targeted by others who hate them simply because of who they are. And if you are truly annoyed with these types of posts: Honestly, I'm actually glad that I'm bothering you, because that means they're probably making you think. My writing has always been focused on sharing what I think about what I'm seeing, and that will continue—especially when what I'm seeing is a president who lacks the moral courage to stand up for what is right and decent. —Andy
