It's officially okay for me to publicly announce that I am being honored by the White House as a STEM Diversity and Access "Champions of Change". The event will be livestreamed on the Whitehouse.gov website at 10am EST. I will accept the honor on behalf of my team(s), friends, my girlfriend Helen Shui and my incredible network of professionals and organizations who have supported me along this journey to transform education for our kids. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
So...the man who carried out the killing of my 18 year old brother was involved in a double homicide (same killing style - execution shot to the head) and a string of murders across Bed-Stuy and Brownsville (Brooklyn). The person who ordered the hit is now serving 25 years to life in Upstate New York. The US Attorneys office reached out to me. I can't say more about their investigation, but it looks like, after thirteen years, they are building a case for my brother's murderer to be prosecuted.
Hello everyone! Thank you for your heartfelt messages, prayers, and thoughts. I'm recovering slowly but surely and I have to thank all of you, especially Helen Shui, for getting me through this transition. There was a scary moment, I must admit, but I pulled through it and look forward to getting in touch with all of you again. Please allow me to pace myself while in this limited capacity, but soon I'll be back to full strength. Thank you again! -Kalimah
