This morning I felt compelled to write about Robin Williams: "I grew up with Robin. He taught me a hell of a lot. More than he’ll ever know. No doubt more than I’ll likely ever realize. I never met him and I’m sure he made plenty of mistakes. But through both the failures and successes in his personal and professional life, he always let us—you and I—see the best version of himself. Whether you’re Peter Pan, a gay man, a doctor, a robot, an alien, a nanny, a teacher, or a genie—always let the world see the best version of yourself. For making me laugh, reminding me to be a little weird, and inspiring me to seize the day, thank you, Robin Williams." https://medium.com/@mattChevy/growing-up-with-robin-6f5eccd6158b Link
Here I am, working at 5am on the 4th of July. Don't get me wrong, I'm not surprised. Not even complaining. On the day of which we celebrate our FREEDOM, I'm incredibly grateful to have the freedom to wake up and work how I want, when I want, with who I want. I understand and respect that my freedom to live this life - one that avails me the incredible power of CHOICE, must be earned - and I - we - are fortunate to live in a time that demands and declares independence - in a world that values its citizens potential. Thomas Paine once said, "Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it." As we enjoy our brats, our beers, and our fireworks, remember: Opportunities are created when you create them. Freedom is earned when you choose to fight for it. Happy Independence Day.
