I'm going to take a moment to share a little non-music related story. Yesterday morning, it was the school cross country. Before school, my 9 year old told me that he wanted to beat his placing from the previous year. He's a pretty decent distance runner and there was a chance he might be good enough to make it into the zone carnival. I smiled at his enthusiasm. In the afternoon, I asked him how the event went and how he did. He said it was fine and he wasn't sure where he ended up, but it was probably "30-somethingth". I thought that was a bit strange. I pressed for more information. He said, "I decided to run with C instead." "Why did you do that?" I asked. "Well, C was worried that he might get bullied or picked on because he is a slow runner. And no offense to C, but he IS pretty slow. So I decided to run with him so he wouldn't finish last on his own." Tears welled up in my eyes. My son had sacrificed his chance of a good race time in order to prevent his friend from having a bad time in the race. His selflessness and compassion made me so proud and I told him that. He beamed. It hadn't been a big deal to do that for his friend, but he suddenly realised that it was kind of a big deal. He then related the last part of the story. And as the two boys crossed the finish line together, C said, "Oh well we're probably last." My son turned around. "Look, C!" he said. "There's still about ten people behind us!"
Can anyone put me in touch with some illustrators? A friend needs some gothic/anime artwork for a project. Paid job.
