20 TIPS FOR A POSITIVE NEW YEAR Updated for 2017 1. Stay Positive. You can listen to the cynics and doubters and believe that success is impossible or you can trust that with faith and an optimistic attitude all things are possible. 2. Take a daily "Thank You Walk." It will create a fertile mind ready for success. 3. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and less foods manufactured in plants. 4. Talk to yourself instead of listen to yourself. Instead of listening to your complaints, fears and doubts, talk to yourself and feed your mind with words of truth and encouragement. 5. Post a sign that says "No Energy Vampires Allowed." Gandhi said, "I will not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet." 6. Be a great team member. When you help your team improve, you improve. 7. Don't chase success. Decide to make a difference and build meaningful relationships and success will find you. 8. Get more sleep. You can't replace sleep with a double latte. 9. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, energy vampires, issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control. 10. You don’t have to be great to serve but you have to serve to be great. Look for opportunities to Love, Serve and Care. 11. Live your purpose. Remember why you do what you do. We don't get burned out because of what we do. We get burned out because we forget why we do it. 12. There's no such thing as an overnight success. Anything worthwhile takes time to build. 13. Trust that everything happens for a reason and expect good things to come out of challenging experiences. 14. Implement the No Complaining Rule. If you are complaining, you're not leading. 15. Read more books than you did in 2016. I happen to know of a few good ones. : ) 16. Don't seek happiness. Instead live with love, passion and purpose and happiness will find you. 17. Focus on "Get to" vs "Have to." Each day focus on what you get to do, not what you have to do. Life is a gift not an obligation. 18. The next time you "fail" remember that it’s not meant to define you. It’s meant to refine you. 19. Smile and laugh more. They are natural anti-depressants. 20. Enjoy the ride. You only have one ride through life so make the most of it and enjoy it. Sign up for more Positive Tips at www.JonGordon.com
The Day After Tomorrow "The Day after Tomorrow" is the name of a movie about a catastrophic event that threatens to destroy our civilization. The day after tomorrow is also the day (Wednesday) we will have a new President of the United States and regardless of who wins there will be some who see the election as a catastrophic event. But I want you to know that no matter who wins, it’s not the end of civilization as we know it. I want you to know that even if your candidate loses, you shouldn’t lose hope. While you may feel powerless you have more power than you think. You can’t control who wins the election but you can control what you do the day after tomorrow. You can be happy. You can work hard. You can love others. You can make a difference. You can pray for the new President to lead well and make great decisions. You can invent something that changes the world. You can start and build a successful business. You can inspire your students and believe in them. You can help heal someone. You can feed the poor and help the needy. You can raise your children with great values and principles. You can make America great by being great at what you do. The President will be in control of running the country but you and only you are in control of running your life. The day after tomorrow will not be a catastrophe. It will be another day to be your best and bring out the best in others. Leadership is important. But one person doesn't make America. We make America.
Couldn't be happier for Dabo. The most positive, optimistic, faithful and genuine leader I've ever met. I've worked with him and the team for 5 years and to see them overcome their past defeats and enjoy this victory was very special. At half time Dabo said to his team "We are going to win this game! I don't know how but we are going to win the game!" After the game in the locker room Dabo told his players to be champions in life too. Be great husbands and fathers! "This won't be the best thing to happen in your lives. God has even more in store for you. The best is yet to come!" They had just won a National Championship and he was talking about their future as men.
