Once upon a time I married a beautiful young woman who was determined never to marry. Once married she decided she never wanted to have children. Over the last 11 years I have watched her become an absolutely brilliant Mom. Francois & Johan are so fortunate to have Alex McCord as their Mother & I'm damned lucky to be her husband. Happy Mother's Day to Alex as well as all the Moms & Mums in countries celebrating Mother's Day today.
I'm not a fan of school snow days but I recognize that putting 1 million NYC kids on the sidewalks and roads when said roads & sidewalks are covered with slippery snow & ice, means risking injuries to our youngest citizens and those that escort them to school. But I'm even less a fan of school authorities waiting until just 2 or 3 hours prior to the school day commencing to announce whether they've canceled school for that day. So far today in NYC we've had over 12" of snow and it's still coming down and is forecast to do so until 2am. With the temperatures dropping throughout tonight from the current 18F/-8c to just 7F/-14c at 8am tomorrow, surely the newly installed Education Chancellor Carmen Fariña and her advisers can predict that the roads which were largely impassable when I drove at 2pm today will be even more dangerous tomorrow morning after a deep deep freeze. Alex & I are fortunate in that we both work from home and so organizing last minute child care isn't an issue for us, but many other parents who work away from their home are too often faced with either a mad scramble to find alternate childcare or having to take a day off from their own jobs - and many lose a day's pay as a result. An announcement tonight at 8pm would at least allow those parents some additional time to organize child care, as given the current conditions it's almost certain that tomorrow will be a snow day for NYC schools.
Somewhere just got a little louder, a little brasher and a little less dull. #RIPJoanRivers
Just saw Beetlejuice for the first time. I had no idea that Alec Baldwin had ever been a thin man and I'd forgotten just how smitten I used to be with Geena Davis.
