Hate has no place in the White House, and today I joined several of my colleagues in the House of Representatives in sending a letter to President-elect Donald Trump, asking him to reconsider his appointment of white nationalist Stephen #Bannon as White House Chief Strategist. Bannon has pieced together a career of racist, sexist, anti-Semitic, and xenophobic rhetoric and should have no role advising the most powerful individual in the world. Mr. Trump must reconsider his choice and appoint a White House staff that is inclusive, diverse, and respects American values.
Breaking shop windows and throwing stones at police officers is not protest. It’s vandalism and we have to be better than that.

I joined with 160 of my colleagues today to introduce legislation in the House of Representatives to defund and rescind President Donald Trump’s executive order banning travel from seven Muslim countries and suspending the U.S. refugee program. For more than thirty years, our nation has opened its arms to those fleeing terrorism and persecution through our refugee program. In the process, we have welcomed world-class doctors, engineers, innovators, businesspeople, and so many other contributing members of our communities. These people have enriched our society and strengthened our economy. This program is not only safe, it makes us safer by showing the world that we stand by our principles and protect those who cherish them. My colleagues and I steadfastly refuse to step aside to let this President throw peaceful, worthy and freedom loving people to the wolves and hand ISIS another recruiting tool in the process. Link
