"We are not going to sacrifice a half million people who live among us, who are part of our community," Mayor Bill de Blasio said yesterday during a press conference. Both New York City and Los Angeles are standing by immigrants and pledge to remain sanctuary cities. We applaud New York and Los Angeles, and look forward to seeing more cities following suit. We need to see much more of this. The mayor of Seattle, Ed Murray, said today in a post-election rally at city hall, that Seattle will remain a sanctuary city for immigrants even if it means they lose federal funding. He urged that standing by immigrants is the most American thing we can do. Thanks Mayor Ed Murray, we look forward to seeing more elected officials take this path.
