We're running a crowdfunding campaign to make the festival happen. Please donate if you can, and share far & wide. igg.me/at/forestfring…
Cutting the Royal Opera House and the National by less than 5% paid for pretty much every new theatre NPO in the country.
Hello pals. Just to be clear, our decision to take a year off from Ed Fest is not a protest against the festival or a cry for help. We could have happily continued as we were if we'd wanted to. The challenges that artists face in presenting their work in Edinburgh are not new or significantly worse this year than in previous years. I think we are all just more acutely aware now of a number of barriers to participation in the festival that have always existed. To us, Forest Fringe is not a venue, it is an experiment. To us, Forest Fringe is a question we are collectively asking about how to survive, both at this festival and in the world beyond it. Like any experiment, we have to continually try new things if we want to have any hope of finding some new and different answers. So this is us, trying some new things, trying to find some different answers. We hope you can all be part of that process. And just as importantly we hope it will be FUN, and chaotic and unpredictable and exciting. Come to our event in London in December and we can all get started.
Forest Fringe has it’s own theatre charter. 1) Come to Forest Fringe 2) Try not to be a dick.
