An Essex police officer diagnosed with breast cancer has been left ‘overwhelmed’ after her colleagues shaved their heads in support of her fight against the disease. In April, Pc Laura Thomas was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and made the decision to shave off her hair before receiving treatment. Immediately after her diagnosis, Laura’s colleagues at Chelmsford Police Station banded together to show their support and stand in solidarity with her. Sgt Paul Gooding, of the B Shift at Chelmsford Local Policing Team, said: “We had planned a visit to Laura, but decided beforehand that we would shave our heads as well. Laura was totally unaware of this, so when we turned up at her address with our new haircuts she was overwhelmed and it made her day. “We hope this would show her how much she is loved and make sure she knows she doesn’t face this alone.” Read more: goo.gl/PaE6WG Link
Meet Diesel, the latest addition to our dog section in #Chelmsford. He came from Greater Manchester Police and he will be 8-weeks-old tomorrow. He currently lives with his puppy walker, Nicki. He's slowly being introduced to the dogs and handlers at the Essex Police Dog Section.
