Friends, I invite you to join me in a 6-week workout program designed to reconnect people of all ages, experience, and abilities with physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle. There are a few reasons why I am especially excited about this program. The first is personal. Those of you who know me well, know that I’ve had some ups and downs with my athletic career. After competing at the CrossFit Games, I sustained career ending injuries to my shoulders. Since then, I’ve had a love-hate relationship with the gym. I sometimes feel discouraged and frustrated to the point that I don’t want to go at all, but I continue to reconnect with my love of fitness because I love feeling strong and healthy. I believe many of us feel a version of this love-hate relationship. We fall off the wagon with our exercise routine or our diet. We may go days or weeks or even months without making our heath a priority. The theme of this program is, “start where you are”, because, that’s what we can do! The program was written by Ian Hardin with a lot of creative input from me :) .. Ian is my best friend and former CrossFit Coach. He has been by my side through thick and thin inside and outside the gym. At the age of 30, Ian decided to make a huge life change and is in his 1st year of graduate school pursuing a PhD in Biomechanics. The cost of this 6 week program is $30, and 100% of the proceeds will help Ian cover expenses for school this semester. I’m excited to get behind this for Ian!!! The program is broad and inclusive incorporating weightlifting, bodyweight movements, and metabolic conditioning. There are 3 tiers (described in more detail below) depending on your current fitness level. The program also includes access to over 200 video tutorials, may of which are hyperlinked into the program. In addition, anyone who signs up for the program will be added to a closed Facebook group in which Ian and I will post and answer any questions regularly. It will also be used for all of us, including myself, to stay motivated to keep working hard. We encourage you to share your program with your household, friends and family. It’s a way to get those around you engaged, and because the program is tiered it is appropriate for everyone. I will be doing tier 1 and my mama will be doing tier 3! Tier 1 is designed for me, the former competitive athlete who has extensive experience in the gym. I have an understanding of complex and technical movements and have a general idea of what my current 1 rep maximums are. I am not currently on a structured program but am ready to recommit myself to physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle. I am willing to be sore and tire in order to make significant progress and am ready to dive in head first. I can commit 60-90 mins 4 days/week to working out. Tier 2 is designed for me, an average athletic individual who has some experience in the gym. I tend to stay away from technical lifts, heavy barbell movements, and olympic lifting. I want to increase my overall strength and conditioning in a simple and effective way without revolving my entire day around the gym! I am familiar with a lot of movements but will utilize some video tutorials along the way. I can commit 45-60 mins 4 days/week to working out. Tier 3 is written for me, someone who has not make my physical fitness a priority lately and does not have much experience in the gym. I would like to be more active and healthier, but I'm not exactly sure how. I will need to watch some video tutorials for guidance with basic movements. I prefer to build strength using my own bodyweight movements and some weightlifting. I need to focus most on cardiovascular endurance, and being able to move myself through life in a healthy way without any limitations! I can commit 30-45 mins 3 days/week to working out. This program is NOT designed for CrossFit athletes interested in competing. If you are interested in individualized programming, ask Ian. Thank you guys for taking the time to listen.
