Take off with Lt. Col. (Ret) Jim "WAM" Harkins, for the final flight of the last F-4 Phantom II aircraft in the active duty inventory. After nearly 60 years of service the F-4 Phantom II has officially been retired. The United States Air Force held a final flight retirement ceremony at Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico earlier today. The F-4 was adaptable workhorse. Operating in versatile fighter-bomber, air defense suppression, reconnaissance, close air support and QF-4 targeting drone roles.
