"Love is love" is deeply upsetting. Trans / queer people don't face violence simply because of who we love.
Our deviance, however glorious, goes beyond who we love. Many trans/queer people are alone (not holding hands etc) when we face violence.
Daily homophobia taught me to hate my queerness. Racism taught me to hate my brownness. This is how we're weaponized against ourselves.
Self-hate is not innate. It is the result of deliberate instruction with the intention for us to destroy ourselves (and others like us).
