Got into a huge fight with my best friend over the proper way to pronounce 'Pyrrhic'. We're not speaking anymore, but I was right.
Yesterday, I placed my 'Housing Not Tents' initiative on the November ballot to help get the homeless out of tents and into housing. The answer to homelessness is housing, not tents. It is not compassionate to allow human beings to live in tents on our streets — it is both dangerous and unhealthy. Encampments simply prolong homelessness, but ‘Housing Not Tents’ actually provides a solution. Link
My statement on Supervisor Jane Kim's call for Chief Greg Suhr to resign: “Chief Suhr has my full and unequivocal support. Since taking the helm in 2011, there has not been a more progressive police chief in San Francisco history. There is no one better to lead our police department and implement the upcoming reforms than Chief Suhr himself. Supervisor Kim is displaying election year politics at its worst, and it makes my stomach churn.” “I can’t think of another police chief that has held more community meetings and been more present, despite the disrespect he faces every single day, than Chief Suhr.” “In this heated public discussion, we have lost sight of the fact that as San Franciscans we’re all in this together. Our laws represent the values of our community, and our police officers are there to protect us as residents by enforcing these laws. I believe we need to stand up and support them. Supporting our police officers does not mean defending, accepting or condoning bad police practices. On the contrary, it means respecting their role in our City, and working with them, not against them, to re-evaluate their policies and practices when necessary.” “Supervisor Kim’s misguided and politically driven call for Chief Suhr to resign will not help accelerate the efforts of the ongoing and proposed police reforms, or make them more impactful and meaningful. It will only make the current situation worse and delay the reforms Chief Suhr wholeheartedly supports implementing.”
I've heard from a couple of people that you can't trust anecdotal evidence.
Now that Trump has secured the Republican nomination we're all that stands between him and the White House. It's time to stop talking and start getting serious about defeating Donald Trump - join my campaign for #sfdccc
