Libraries aren't free and librarians shouldn't be treated like volunteers, shit costs money don't pretend it doesn't.
The whole 'librarians are there to XXXX, and Google is there to make money' thing carries the implication librarians shouldn't make money.
If you are a library consultant, any work you do for a library conference isn't 'pro bono'. That would be called marketing.
And if 'we're better than Google' is all you can come up with to explain the value of libraries....take a moment to think about that.
