HOW TO IDENTIFY A SPIRITUAL ATTACK!
Today I had one of those days when you have to fight off the demons. When under attack your mind is bombarded with thoughts. These thoughts stir up emotions and these emotions loop back and feed the thought process. It's a vicious descending spiral.
It's bad enough if you are alone but if someone else is involved - watch out! If it's a demonic thing the others will get hooked into the attack feed into the process with the demons talking to them.
The wrong word, look, gesture can trigger a new level of conflict. We've all been there. It's almost impossible to be passionate and rational at the same time.
HOW TO STOP THE ATTACK
You can derail the attack once you catch that it's a demon at work. I can't explain why but the moment I am aware that it's a demon at work my focus shifts from the person or issue to the demon - and all I want to do is crush that spirit like a bug! I want to punish it.
Your "early warning detection" is ALWAYS the same. Here it is: "be suspicious of STRIFE!" Strife is the devils gateway into an church, organization, marriage or family. With strife comes "fault finding" and "anger."
To break off the spirit you need to change the conversation in your head- ON PURPOSE. Stop focusing on what isn't working- instead focus intentionally on what is working. Think about what is good about the person you're upset with. If it's a partner or employee you are struggling with remember that they chose you as someone they wanted to be connected to. They believed in you. They wanted to work in your business or be in your ministry. They didn't start off negative. How much of the problem can you own and take responsibility for?
This is especially true if you are the head of your house or business. You are the gardener of your own field be it financial, physical, work or family. What does this problem tell you about your skills as a gardener? The goal is to focus on what God has done that is good. Focus on what is good about that person. Take humble inventory about how you can improve on your end. From this vantage point bind the demon of strife and speak peace or good will to the others involved.
This is so important I need to repeat it. Begin to thank God for what He has done and how He has helped you. Be an advocate and not an accuser of those around you. Pray and speak FOR the other people - not against.
Watch the atmosphere change!
What holds up transitions? Inability to shift into the next thing. We cling to the familiar and never stop to think... If we keep doing what we've always done we will keep getting what we've already got.
If at first you don't succeed... know that hardly anyone does the first time with anything. Unless its parachute jumping, try again.
Peter was made more authentic and therefore stronger after an uncomfortable chapter of life. Moses was made useful years after a mistake he ran away from. Hiding out in the wilderness, he was finally prepared. Paul seemed to never forget the depths from which he was delivered as a persecutor of Christians.
All three have this one thing in common - they were more useful after they got a revelation of their own frailty. Each thought they knew what God wanted to do - and missed it. Peter thought himself the defender of the Christ. Moses thought he was the champion of the oppressed and Paul thought he was purifying the true move of God from a dangerous deception. All acted in righteous rage and all were wrong.
Peter and Moses ran away from their mistakes. Paul ran into divine discipline and redemption. All became stronger because of a revelation of their weakness.
Don't disqualify yourself because of weakness, but rather remember this verse from Hebrews: "out of weakness they were made strong."
HEAVEN IS INVADING EARTH.
The Devil Wishes It Was All About Bunnies and Eggs...Think about it. The headlines read like a world in convulsions. This will not change. Why? Because Heaven really is invading earth and the enemy is coming down in wrath, knowing he has a short time.
2000 years ago Satan squared off with a very dangerous man - and lost. This man was as human as you and me, but he was different. He had never sinned. The Son of God mingled with the seed of man and became one of us...born of a virgin. He was so similar to the outward eye, so indistinguishable that they needed Judas to kiss him to identify him in the garden. Yet in that quiet garden Jesus of Nazareth sealed the fate of the entire hosts of hell and wrapped up history.
There is no decisive battle left. Satan is defeated. He made the mistake of killing a sinless man - who happened to be acting as a substitute for all sinful man. Satan proved to be a bad strategist in combat with Jesus, and a worse lawyer. Death could not hold him and the resurrection was the shocking unforeseen result.
Death. Could. Not. Hold. Him. HE IS ALIVE ... and that changes everything.
