The first few snake's head fritillaries (Fritillaria meleagris) have just started to emerge on Princess Walk. Throughout April and May 30,000 of these wonderfully patterned blooms decorate this area, creating a stunning effect. Fritillaries used to be abundant in Britain, but became rare in the wild as suitable grasslands disappeared.
