Oh Austin, we are amazed by you! One day...159 adoptions (at last count). We are so thankful you opened your hearts and homes today and that tonight those animals will know what it means to truly be home. Thank you to all the wonderful vendors, volunteers, and supporters who came out to the 100 Happy Homes Challenge! You are AWESOME!
Alabaster and Izzy were surrendered to us last month together. These two sweet seniors had clearly bonded and loved to be with the other. We had been hoping to adopt them out together and today we can tell you, we did! This pair has lots of cat naps and kitty snuggles ahead! #ahsadoptables #happytail
Our team just pulled about a dozen dogs, cats, & kittens from the Taylor City Animal Shelter. The shelter is overly crowded and asked us to help by taking some of the animals into our care. These animals will now be placed into either foster homes or go straight into our adoption program to find the perfect forever home!
Meet Zac. This 3 year old Chihuahua mix came to AHS in late March. While in the care of a partner shelter, Zac’s veterinary check-up revealed a severe heart murmur, which would require surgery to save his life. They immediately thought of AHS when they realized Zac would need intensive medical care, and he was brought to us just a couple days later.
Zac's murmur is caused by a Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA). At birth, Zac’s heart vessel failed to close, causing his blood to flow abnormally and forcing his heart to work over-time to circulate the amount of blood and oxygen his body needs. If the PDA is left unaddressed, it can dramatically reduce Zac’s life expectancy.
Zac is a happy, energetic, and curious pup who has no idea he has a congenital heart defect, and we want to keep it that way! But we need your help.
A group of generous donors has generously pledged their support and have committed to donating $25,000 as a match. If we raise $25,000, it will automatically go Twice As Far, giving even more animals a second chance.
Your donations will not only provide Zac with the necessary surgery he needs to heal his heart murmur and save his life, but it will also benefit so many more animals in need. Help us go Twice As Far and donate to save Zac and other vulnerable animals who come through our doors.
Please make a gift today at http://bit.ly/TwiceAsFarForZac. With your support, we can save more lives!
