Earlier this month, nine-year-old Zoey was brought to our New York Avenue Adoption Center. Her owners were seeking assistance because she had been urinating blood for the past month and they were unable to afford vet care. Recognizing the love they had for Zoey, the staff at the front desk suggested several options, hoping to keep Zoey in their home. Unfortunately, the couple came back the next day to surrender their beloved dog because she had worsened during the night. The adoption staff noticed Zoey’s urinary issues and sent her to the medical center at our Oglethorpe Adoption Center. There, an X-Ray determined she had a massive bladder stone, causing a complete blockage. Our vets performed surgery and successfully removed a golf ball-sized mass from the 20 pound pup. But her story doesn’t end there. Our staff contacted the owners to let them know the good news. They were asked if they wanted Zoey back and emphatically and emotionally said yes. They were reunited this afternoon.
