It was smiles and tears for BCom student, Asipesona Maxakato today when she was blown away by a huge surprise from her father. Dad, George Maxakato, was outside the graduation venue to present her with a beautiful new car, making good on a promise he had made when Asipesona was a young girl.
In Grade 8, George told his daughter that if she did her homework, completed her assignments and worked hard she would be able to succeed at university and if she presented him with a degree certificate, he would present her with a set of car keys. And that is exactly what he did. Asipesona kept her side of the bargain and graduated with a BCom in Business Management & Economics and George kept his side of the bargain by saving up to buy his daughter a car. The whole family enjoyed the surprise as did many others students who watched the look of joy on her face. “If you work hard, good things will happen” said dad George. Well done Asipesona!
