With our giant sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum) due to reopen next week, here's a #ThrowbackThursday from the archives as its 'before' shot.
This specimen from a 1,300 year old tree has been on display in various locations at the Museum since 1894. We haven't been able to work out which year this picture was taken - can you make a guess based on our visitors' fashion choices?
General consensus seems to place this photograph late-70s or early-80s. We're inclined to the later years of that range based on the Museum signage.
