When the post flood fund raising for victims starts please remember the Mountain Rescue Teams. They are 100% voluntary and rely on donations
Today I woke up to conversations on the radio about banning boxing and a council proposing banning bouncy castles "until they can be proved safe". On the same program I heard calls to ban rugby and mountaineering for the same reasons, When will society realise that life is not, cannot be, and should not be a risk averse journey from cradle to grave being nothing more than a "productive economic unit". Risk is a part of life and rather than a risk averse lifestyle making us "safe" it diminishes our ability to perceive and evaluate the inevitable risks we will encounter. Risk management is a characteristic of the human race and the same attribute which is lauded by our political and economic masters. Without risk there is no progress, so how can it be acceptable to take risks as an entrepeneur or business yet not acceptable if taken in the pursuit of happiness?
