On Wednesday, June 29, MLSE Foundation, Toronto Community Housing, the City of Toronto Host City 2015 and The Daniels Corporation hosted a community event today to celebrate the official opening of the new Regent Park Athletic Grounds, the latest addition to the revitalization of Regent Park.
The grounds will provide a refurbished hockey rink funded by Hockey Canada Foundation, a running track, a new basketball court funded by Kelly Silverstein Memorial Fund (KSM), a field house funded by Under Armour and an artificial turf soccer/cricket pitch funded by Canadian Tire Jumpstart. This state-of-the-art facility will become a sports destination for Regent Park and Torontonians of all ages.
Also on Wednesday, we announced Toronto Youth Development, Neighbourhood Women Striving in Sports and Athleticism, Peoples Basketball, Lay-Up Youth Basketball and Toronto Council Fire Native Cultural Centre as this year’s recipients of the Regent Park Athletic Grounds (RPAG) Grants. The RPAG Grants are a $1 million grant program focused on sport development in the Regent Park community supported by Sentry Investments, 3TO6 Team and Kelly Silverstein Memorial Fund.
