Parenting Reminder: We all have those days when we just want to scream. The kids can be so frustrating and you can feel yourself getting angrier and more annoyed with each passing minute. Yup; me too. One of the best pieces of advice I was ever given is that when children push back the hardest and act out the worst is when they need the most love, understanding and patience. It's a challenging pill to swallow as this is often the moment you want to shut down and walk away. I get it! Instead, tell them; "I love you. I will always love you. I know this is hard." #Parenting
On this #DayoftheGirl: You don't need to plan to do anything monumental. You can simply talk with a girl in your life. Listen to what she has to say. Ask her to tell you more. Speak less. Be fully present. See her for her gifts, her courage, her sharp mind and her contributions. Let her know that you believe in her; her potential, her dreams and her ability to realize them. Tell her that she matters-- that she has worth beyond what could ever be calculated and that this world is a better place and will continue to be a better place because she is in it. Perhaps it may seem like a small gesture. But with your declaration, your decision, your conviction to underscore what is great and true and beautiful in a girl, you may be helping her to muster the courage and inner strength to forge a path that is all her own. And that, my friends, is pretty monumental if you ask me.
