Thank you to David Walliams for the wonderful story telling and afternoon tea yesterday. Thomas, Rachel, Georgia, Ben, Dan, Seb and Archie had a fantastic time.
Today we're celebrating Ryan's 19th birthday. Pictured here with his dad since 2013, Ryan came to us after a cycling accident left him in a coma for 123 days. He received nine months of intensive rehabilitation at The Children's Trust with his family by his side and has made amazing progress.
Ryan's dad, Mark, said: "Ryan has defied medics with his progress. From day one, his prognosis was bleak; he wasn't expected to be here. We were supposed to prepare for demise. Then we were told he wasn't going to be able to do anything again. And now he's going from strength to strength. And long may that continue." Ryan, you are an inspiration!
Ryan and Mark now devote much of their time to promoting safer cycling to save lives through The Ryan Smith Foundation
