Me: Alice Bee, please put your boots on. It's time to go. Alice Bee: I want to wear my BLACK boots! Me: They don't fit anymore. Please put these on so we can go. Alice Bee: I'm Darth Vader. Darth Vader wears black boots. He doesn't wear pink boots. Me: Sure he does. Sometimes. Um, ironically. He'll sometimes wear them ironically. Alice Bee: Oh. Wait, what does that mean? Me: That means he sometimes wears the pink boots because it's the opposite of what he would actually do. Alice Bee: Oh. Are you sure? Me: Yep. Alice Bee: What about in the movies? Me: No, he doesn't do it in the movies. He only does it outside of the movies. You know, to crack up the Storm Troopers when no one else is around. Alice Bee: Oh! OK! [grins maniacally and puts on the pink boots, laughing to herself the whole time]

I always secretly look forward to the nights when Jen works late, because it means Alice Bee and I get to play video games until she gets home. Unfortunately, today is the first really beautiful day we've had in a while, and Alice Bee has chosen to run around and play with her friends in the back yard. So now I'm staring out the window, trying to stop myself from yelling, "You need to stop that physical activity right this second and come in the house to play video games."
