I used to have terrible skin. It got to the point that the makeup artist on Zoey 101 was using an airbrush to cover it all up --the same sort of apparatus they use in special effects makeup to make zombies look rotten or aliens look green. That's how much work it took to hide my zits. I tried absolutely everything: ProActiv, Cetaphil, Clearasil, OCM, aspirin masks, yogurt masks, beauty bars, Retin-A Micro, BenzaClin, minocycline, more pills I can't recall the names of, and finally killed it with a course of Accutane in the summer of 2008. There's a reason doctors leave that as a last resort: it is an awful time taking that junk, and I hope I never have to again...but it worked. I've had a couple of pimples a month since, but nothing so tenacious, painful, and indestructible as the old days. The above picture was taken in my first week of treatment in the summer of 2008; the bottom, six years later and twenty minutes ago. Point being: If your skin is utterly out of your control, find a dermatologist you trust and don't give up. Hormones change, zits heal, and scars are small and beautiful. nobody's skin is perfect, and never will be, but all skin can be healthy. And healthy is gorgeous.
